While you can purchase teardrop camper plans, you don’t need to. You’ll find plenty of free build tutorials floating around the Internet. We’ve gathered up some of the best plans to make your first teardrop building experience a fun – and successful – one.

Free Teardrop Trailer Build Plans

• ANGIB’s Site – featuring highly detailed teardrop plans for just about any camping scenario. We’ve sorted through all their plans, and have singled out a few you might want to try. Don’t forget to check out the 2+2 design!
• Benroy style teardrop camper – Richard Flake has made available a full sized pattern of a Benroy style teardrop trailer that you can download for free (link is in the fifth paragraph once you get to the site). In addition to the Benroy plans, you can purchase plans for five other teardrop campers at $98 apiece.
• 1947 teardrop camper for two – these plans date from 1947 and come from the pages of Mechanix Illustrated. Thanks to Woodworking Down Under for locating the scanned vintage plans.
• $500 teardrop camper – follow Jason’s build plans on the Instructables site, and learn how you too can make a teardrop camper for just $500.

• Pop up camper to teardrop conversion – while most teardrop camper builders start off with a bare trailer chassis, another idea is to use the bones from a pop up camper. Here’s another example of someone who took an old pop up camper and made it into a larger DIY trailer.
• 11’8″ by 6’6″ teardrop – made from plywood, fiberglass, and polystyrene foam (plus a custom homemade trailer). Also check out the detailed photos in this online photo album.
• 5′ by 10′ teardrop built on modified utility trailer – Larry used many recycled materials in constructing this plywood teardrop with foam board insulation.
• Aluminum-sided teardrop – many teardrop builders stain the outside of their campers with a weatherproof finish. As an upgrade, you could use rolled aluminum for a professional-grade and waterproof exterior.
